In a swift reversal, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has called off its nationwide strike, which had commenced just 24 hours prior. This decision emerged from a high-level meeting held on Tuesday, culminating in a communiqué that underscored a collective commitment to resolving JUSUN's grievances through dialogue.

The gathering saw key stakeholders, including representatives of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, engage in extensive deliberations with JUSUN leadership, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). The consensus reached was for JUSUN to suspend its industrial action in light of the CJN's intervention and the assurance of forthcoming negotiations.

Central to the agreement is a one-month window for stakeholders to engage with the Federal Government, aiming to secure the release of funds to the judiciary. The communiqué explicitly stated that "upon the release of the funds, the demands by the JUSUN be implemented immediately." These demands encompass the implementation of the N70,000 new minimum wage and its arrears, a 25–35 percent salary increment, along with the payment of a five-month wage award and all associated arrears.

With the assurances received, JUSUN, in conjunction with its organs, agreed to suspend the strike. Judiciary workers are slated to resume their duties on Wednesday.
