A truly horrific and deeply disturbing case has emerged from the village of Malalume in Bulilima, Zimbabwe, where a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer is facing accusations of the brutal beating, subsequent killing, dismemberment, and disposal of a suspect's remains in a pit latrine behind a local clinic. The incident has sent shockwaves of outrage and disbelief through the community.

Constable Blessed Moyo, stationed at the Malalume Police Base, is at the center of these grave allegations. According to reports from H-Metro, local residents have expressed profound anger, with one shopkeeper at Tjaguta Business Centre lamenting, "We trusted him to protect us but he was the devil in our midst. He abused power, harassed us for beer, and now this? He must rot in jail.”

The grim sequence of events reportedly began in early February when a villager named Melisa Ndlovu reported a theft at her home. The suspect, identified as a man from Binga believed to be mentally unstable, was apprehended by Constable Moyo and brought to the police base. Witnesses claim that the man was handcuffed and subjected to a severe beating using various objects, including a mopane switch, sjambok, cooking stick, and a plastic pick handle, until he supposedly confessed. A police source revealed, “He begged for water and said he felt dizzy. Constable Moyo then dismissed everyone else, saying he would organise transport to Bulawayo. That was the last time anyone saw the man alive.”

The horrifying truth began to unravel on May 22, when human remains were discovered buried in a pit latrine located behind the police base and clinic. Items recovered from the gruesome scene included a skull, skeletal fragments, torn clothing, a blood-stained Okapi knife, and a pair of handcuffs. In a desperate plea for justice and truth, villagers resorted to summoning traditional healers and prophets, with one villager stating, “Even bones can talk. We want justice for the soul he buried.”

Constable Moyo was subsequently arrested and brought before Plumtree Magistrate’s Court on May 23. Magistrate Mark Dzira denied him bail, and the State is being represented by prosecutor Arnold Mudekunye. The case has left the Malalume community reeling, with an elderly villager asserting, “We are not fools. That man was killed in cold blood and they tried to bury the truth. But the ancestors refused to be silenced.” Headman Senganyondo declined to comment on the matter, citing that it is now before the courts.
