The heavy rain, accompanied by a powerful storm that originated from the Mashegu area, overwhelmed the community, sweeping away homes, belongings, and even residents.
According to Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi, 15 bodies have been recovered so far, but the search continues amidst the widespread devastation, with hopes of finding more individuals, possibly even survivors. The sheer force of the floodwaters caught many residents by surprise in their sleep, leaving little time for evacuation.
The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) has confirmed the tragic incident and is actively gathering more information to assess the full scale of the disaster.
