Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, crediting his decisive intervention for averting potential anarchy in the state amidst its ongoing political crisis. In a statement released Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara highlighted that the peace and reconciliation efforts are progressing, aiming to restore himself, his deputy, and all elected members of the State House of Assembly to their respective offices. He optimistically assured that "democracy and good governance will soon return to the state, with both arms working together for the good of the people."

Addressing leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement during an event marking his two years in office, Governor Fubara reiterated his confidence in an imminent resolution. He stated, “I want to assure you that the issues will soon be resolved, and you will return to your offices, not just in the Executive arm, but also the Legislative arm.” He further expressed hope for the restoration of strong relationships, enabling collaborative efforts for the state's advancement, emphasizing the importance of a "forgiving spirit."

Fubara implored Rivers State residents to acknowledge and appreciate President Tinubu's timely intervention, which he believes prevented the crisis from escalating. He urged continued peace to facilitate the success of the reconciliation process and foster the state's progress. “We are already in the peace process. I want you to thank Mr. President for his timely intervention in salvaging the situation and stabilising the polity and the state. If not for Mr. President, the story today would have been different,” he remarked. The Governor lauded President Tinubu's wisdom and prompt action, regardless of how he received his information, underscoring that the President is the one deserving of thanks. He also extended personal appreciation to President Tinubu and other prominent figures nationwide who appealed for his intervention, stressing the necessity to "come down from our high horses and commit ourselves to the peace process." For Fubara, the paramount interest is the state's forward movement, transcending individual concerns.
