Ondo town was recently rocked by a violent cult clash that claimed the lives of four individuals on Tuesday evening. The fatalities occurred across various locations including Ife Garage, Sabo, and Christ Land in the Oka area, with masked assailants suspected to be rival cult members carrying out the shootings. Specifically, three alleged members of the Aiye confraternity were killed at Ife Garage, and another person lost their life in the Sabo area. In response to this deadly eruption of violence, the Ondo State Police Command launched an immediate crackdown. The command's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed on Thursday the apprehension of 46 youths in connection with the incident. These arrests were made during raids on suspected hideouts within the town, where firearms and ammunition were also recovered. Ayanlade emphasized the police's firm stance, stating that anyone arrested during these operations is believed to be involved in the clashes. He further assured the public that efforts are actively underway to apprehend remaining suspects, urging residents of Ondo town and the wider Ondo State to remain law-abiding and cooperate with the police to ensure the restoration of peace.
