EFCC, the people wey dey chase money palava, don vex well well after one motivational speaker say if you wan learn from am, you go pay $18,000.
The EFCC talk-talk person, Dele Oyewale, warn Naija people make dem shine their eyes well before dem put their money for any business wey go put them for wahala.
That $18,000, almost N30 million in our money, cause big argument for social media. Plenty people dey para for the person wey put out the advert, one Stephen Akintayo.
Our reporter check am, see say for the flyer wey dem use advertise the program, dem no put any account number. Dem say if you dey interested, make you send private message.
On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Akintayo post for his Facebook page say he get only 10 slots for one-on-one teaching and access program for $18,000. He even say people fit pay N2.5 million that day, and then pay the rest small small for 12 months.
For the post, this oga wey dey teach about investment promise plenty things, like say the person go get chance to join big people wey dey coach others, and he go give them 45 of his books.
As EFCC hear this, Oyewale say, "This thing dey smell like Ponzi scheme. People need to dey careful where dem put their money."
He also talk say na against the law to dey charge people in dollars. He say EFCC no like that kind thing at all.
"E no good to dey charge in dollars. One of the things we dey fight against na make our economy no dey too depend on dollar. For anybody to say dem wan do mentorship program and collect dollars, that person dey break our country law," he add.
Plenty Naija people for social media too talk their mind about this matter.
One person for Facebook, Okey Mbah, dey vex say if person get that kind money wey dem dey ask for, the person no need any investment coach to teach am anything.
He say, "The person just need to focus and do more of the things wey bring that money, and also read books and go for important meetings. You know how many land $18k fit buy for different parts of Nigeria? Or how much money that kind money fit make for you if you put am for government business for one year or six months?"
"Na that kind money one person just open mouth ask for as 'mentorship' fee, and some people wey no believe in themselves and no too get sense go pay am and later regret. Wetin this man wan teach sef? All those things dey for books somewhere. You just need to find the right books."
Another person, Francis Njemanze, dey complain say this mentorship thing don turn to money-making business too much.
He say, "The problem I always have with Dr Stephen na this money part. Last time, he say I should sponsor one conference with N300k, and he still call am sponsorship. Now, he dey ask for $18k for mentorship, which na almost N30 million."
Njemanze say if person get that kind money to pay for registration, the person no need any mentorship again.

He add say, "The young people wey you always say you wan help succeed no fit afford this money, and plenty new businesses too no fit."
One human rights activist, Charles Ogbu, even claim say the author never show any proof of anybody wey become billionaire just because dem pass through his mentorship.
He say, "Yet, you come out in public to ask people to pay you almost 30 million naira so you go teach them how to become billionaires."
But some other people dey praise Akintayo for this idea.
One Bukat Grills say the money no too much if you think about the value and the people wey the person go meet if he join the program.
Grills say, "I don see people wey don pass through your mentorship and dem dey do very well for their different work."
Another person, Udeme Udeme, write say, "I don hear plenty good things about your mentorship program. No amount too big for knowledge and chance to meet important people."
One person, Acha Emmanuel Adiele, show interest and ask how to pay.
One big economist and money expert, Dr Aliyu Ilias, say when government people no do their work well, other people go use that chance to do anyhow.
He add say, "To use over N30 million for mentorship too much, and for economy reason, e go make people find money in bad ways."
Meanwhile, one of the people wey suppose to teach for the program, one woman wey say her name na Victoria, say the program na to make people's lives better.
Victoria say, "Dr Stephen don dey share his knowledge freely; he no hide anything. He try to give out as much as possible. Some dey free, some you go pay. As dem dey say, 'you no go pay attention until you pay sometimes'."
We try to call three phone numbers wey dey for the program flyer, but dem no fit reach Akintayo to talk.
Dem send questions to two other numbers, but nobody reply as at the time of this report.
Instead, the people wey answer the phone say make the reporter call different people,
but those people no gree talk.
