President Bola Ahmed Tinubu don agree make dem release N15 billion immediately, because experts don dey shout say big flood dey come for the country, and e go cause serious problem.
Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, talk this thing on Wednesday for one workshop about how to join hand stop flood, wey dem do for National Counter Terrorism Centre, Office of the National Security Adviser, NCTC-ONSA Auditorium, Abuja.
He say he don tell all the government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) wey concern, make dem put head together to prevent the problem.
He talk say Tinubu welcome strong partnership to stop the flood, by joining technical knowledge, money, and how dem dey work, from inside government and with people wey dey help Nigeria develop.
The Vice President say Nigeria get luck say Tinubu na the President, because of the kind leadership wey he dey give the country.
He say, “Last year alone, flood affect more than five million people. E make 2.3 million Nigerians leave their house, destroy more than 450,000 hectares of farm land, and force 1.2 million children to stop school.”
“This no be just story for book. This na wetin happen to us. The people wey suffer na all of us, our future, and our country economy wey dey suffer.”
“For many years, the way we dey respond to flood and other problem wey climate change dey cause na to dey react after the thing happen. We no dey prepare well or dem dey catch us unaware. We dey wait for water to rise, for house to disappear, and then we dey rush to give relief.”
Speaking about why the workshop dey important, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, say dem don set up taskforce to stop the flood wey dey come.
According to him, “E dey important to get early warning system and respond quick to reduce the problem wey disaster dey cause for people wey dey vulnerable, and the important work wey the Anticipatory Action Taskforce dey do to achieve this.”
The NSA beg all the people wey concern, make dem work together tirelesly to achieve the aim of the workshop for the interest of the country.
