The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) don start strong investigation into the wahala of 24 Nigerians wey dem catch for Ghana because dem suspect say dem dey do internet fraud.
According to statement wey EFCC release on Monday, these 24 suspects dey among the total of 231 Nigerians wey Ghana government send back to Nigeria on Friday.
The tori be say na the Ghana Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) police nack these 24 guys on April 17, 2025. Dem catch dem for one place wey dem call Kumsark Estate, for Oyarifa area, wey dey near Accra, the capital city of Ghana.
After dem catch dem, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for Lagos state carry these 24 suspects go hand dem over to EFCC for proper investigation.
The Zonal Commander of NAPTIP for Lagos, one Madam Comfort Agboko, talk say on Friday, April 25, 2025, her agency collect a total of 231 Nigerians from EOCO. Inside this number, 24 of dem be the suspects wey dem suspect say dem dey do internet fraud, and the remaining 207 people be like say dem be victims of something. She say EOCO send all of dem back to Nigeria after dem arrest the 24 suspects on April 17 because of the suspicion say dem dey involved in internet fraud activities.
Madam Agboko explain further say the first investigation wey NAPTIP do show say these people dey do different types of cybercrime. She mention things like romance scams (wey dem dey use love story collect people money), phishing (wey dem dey try trick people to give dem their secret information), and other kinds of fake online transactions. She even say dem suspect say some of these guys get connection with big criminal gangs wey dey do cybercrime.

She also remind people say NAPTIP and EFCC don work together like this before, and e don bring good results. She give example of one case for 2022 wey dem hand over to EFCC, and EFCC manage to jail four people for Advanced Fee Fraud (419).
Madam Agboko conclude say this handover of the 24 suspects na continuation of that good working relationship. She say NAPTIP trust EFCC to use their strong knowledge in investigating money crimes to make sure dem properly prosecute (carry to court and punish) the suspects if dem find dem guilty.
When the oga for EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, one Mr. Ahmed Ghali, collect the suspects, he talk say on behalf of the Executive Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, he don officially take charge of the 24 suspects. He also list the things wey dem collect from the suspects, which include 276 laptop computers, 118 mobile phones, 12 pieces of National Identification Number (NIN) slips, two Voter's Cards, two driver's licenses, 10 ATM cards, and five COVID-19 vaccination cards.
Mr. Ghali promise say EFCC go do a thorough and complete investigation to find out how deep these suspects enter inside the alleged fraud activities. He give assurance say dem go work with diligence (with care and seriousness) and make sure justice happen, and anybody wey dem find guilty go face the law.
