Chidinma Ojukwu, that Unilag student wey dey face trial for the killing of Super TV boss, Michael Ataga, tell Lagos High Court on Monday say na fear make she no go report the matter to police.
She yarn for Justice Yetunde Adesanya court for Tafawa Balewa Square say she fear say dem go accuse her wrongly if she go report. She say she don hear stories of people wey go report crime and dem turn around accuse them.
Chidinma also talk say when she dey go down from the apartment, she think of calling the gateman again, but fear catch her, she cut the call.
Dem also accuse Chidinma with Adedapo Quadri and her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, for stealing and faking papers. Dem bring them to court since October 12, 2021, with nine counts.
Chidinma start her defense on April 17, 2025, and she talk everything wey happen after dem find Ataga body.
She explain how things go from June 16 to 23, 2021. Her lawyer, Onwuka Egwu, lead her to talk. Chidinma say on June 16, 2021, she see say Ataga read her WhatsApp message and his status show "online" even after she see him lie down dead in blood.
She say she try call his number many times, but nobody answer. She say she confuse, say she dey think maybe another person get his phone.
Chidinma say she call the gateman, Abu, wey dey handle things for the short-let apartment. When she ask am if he see Ataga, Abu say Ataga don leave since yesterday. But later, Abu tell her say Ataga car still dey park for the place.
Chidinma say based on wetin Abu tell her, she say for her mind, "Wetin I don do?" She say she send WhatsApp message to Michael say, "Please forgive me. I no mean to leave you like that. I fear too much." After that, dem block her number, she no fit reach am again.
Chidinma say she get two laptops, one Macbook and one HP. On June 18, 2021, she carry them go Computer Village, one to sell and the other one to fix.
She say when she reach the person wey she usually buy from, she give am the Macbook to sell. The person ask her for receipt. She say na gift from December 2020. Then the manager come in and ask her to unlock the Macbook so dem fit check well.
Chidinma say she unlock the laptop, dem check wetin dem want check, then dem ask her how much she want sell. She say N600,000, dem bargain and sell am for N495,000. The person ask her to sign out of i-cloud, she sign out, and dem transfer the money to her bank account. Then she carry the HP laptop go for repair.

Chidinma also talk about wetin happen on June 19 and 20, 2021. She say she try reach Ataga through SMS because network no good.
She tell the court say on June 20, 2021, she talk to her sister, Chioma (the third person wey dem accuse), and invite her come. Chioma dey for East that time, she come visit her on June 22, 2021.
Chidinma say Chioma lose her phone for April when she travel to East. Since she get two phones, iPhone 11 and iPhone 7, she give Chioma one iPhone 7 Plus wey she use last year.
She say police arrest her on June 23, 2021.
Chidinma say she no get Ataga property. She say one of the police slap her, but her papa stop them. She say dem handcuff both of them carry them go Panti police station.
She say for the DCP office, she tell am say she no know about the death. She say na fear make her run and carry her things. She say dem handcuff her papa too. She say the DCP say her papa dey disturb police work.
Chidinma say later, police carry them go her house, where dem find her phones, laptop, one black bag with clothes, some papers from the apartment, and ID cards.
Chidinma say dem carry her go one small room where dem handcuff her left hand to chair. She say one officer wey name be Bamidele bring blank paper and ask her to write statement.
She say she tell am say she know her right and say lawyer suppose dey present. He say no lawyer dey come and nobody go see her.
She also say Bamidele threaten her say dem fit hold her family, even her 10-year-old sister, if she no cooperate. She say na because of wetin he talk make she start to write.
After she write her statement, Chidinma say Bamidele tear am and say she must write another one. He show her bad pictures from where Ataga die and say one robe wey dem find for the apartment na him dem use tie Ataga hand, but she say no be true.
She say she tell am say she no fit tie Michael up. She say Michael big man.
She say the officer also ask her why she get different papers like her UNILAG ID card, bank statement, and voter card. She say she tell am say she be student and she get all the papers legally.
Justice Adesanya say dem go continue the case on April 29, 2025.
